El club Girls United brinda oportunidades a las niñas y jóvenes del sur del estado para practicar este deporte en Bacalar y Chetumal.
Desde hace un año, el Club Girls United arribó a Quintana Roo con el objetivo de promover el Fútbol Femenil, y brindar oportunidades a las niñas y jóvenes que quieren sobresalir eb este deporte.
Inicialmente se establecieron en Bacalar, y actualmente están reclutando a niñas y jóvenes futbolistas que quieran formar parte de este club en la capital del estado.
Este proyecto es representado en Quintana Roo por Romina Calatayud y Mabel Velarde Coba, esta última mundialista de Canadá 2015 con la selección nacional de Ecuador, y jugadora en países como Estados Unidos, Argentina, Costa Rica y Ecuador.
Estudió para convertirse en coach de fútbol, functional trainer, fundó su propia academia mixta en Ecuador hace 6 años.
En entrevista, las promotoras señalaron que desde hace un año llegaron al sur de la entidad, instalándose en el municipio de Bacalar, donde comenzaron a trabajar con niñas que van desde los seis años y hasta la categoría Libre, motivándolas a practicar el fútbol y también inculcando valores para formar personas que tengan un impacto positivo en la sociedad.
“Lo que queremos es formar buenas futbolistas, pero también buenas personas, jugadoras que tengan oportunidades en algunas Ligas Profesionales, ya sea de México o de algún otro país, pero también profesionistas, que tengan una carrera y que puedan ser productivas para la sociedad”, señaló Romina Calatayud.
Por su parte, Mabel Velarde, quien ha recorrido varios países y que cuenta con experiencia en un mundial de fútbol, resaltó el hecho de que el Club Girls United tiene varias opciones de oportunidades para las integrantes de esta institución, pues cuentan con contactos en varios equipos de la Liga MX Femenil, pero sobre todo, tiene el respaldo del equipo que se encuentra en Londres, Inglaterra.

Over a year ago, the Girls United Club arrived in Quintana Roo with the goal of promoting women’s football and provide opportunities to the girls and teenagers who want to stand out in this sport.
